Peerless Search has partnered with a leading distribution company in HQ Columbus, OH, that is focused on its next wave of growth. They are dedicated to providing high-quality products and services, they are committed to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Due to this anticipated growth, we are assisting this company in its search for a Controller who can one day take on CFO responsibilities as the current CFO is looking to retire in the next couple of years.

The Controller will oversee all financial aspects of our organization and will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. This role reports directly to the CFO and requires strong leadership capabilities, financial acumen, and a strategic mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare timely budgets, financial forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data and provide insights to guide decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Internal Controls: Develop and maintain internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget administration and financial management.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax filings.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present financial statements and reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Controller, Accounting Supervisor, or similar role, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
