Position Overview:

We are seeking a Controller to lead the accounting and finance functions for this fast-growing small business. This is a high-impact role responsible for managing financial operations, driving process improvements, and leading a team of four professionals. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, strategic, and passionate about small business growth. This role has a clear path to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a candidate who excels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
• Utilize QuickBooks to maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four accounting/finance professionals.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with leadership to support strategic decision-making and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with accounting regulations, tax filings, and financial controls.
• Act as a key business partner to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations to drive profitability and growth.
• Prepare the organization for future scalability, with the opportunity to transition into the CFO role.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting.
• Experience leading a team and developing staff.
• Passion for small business operations and a process-improvement mindset.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
