Peerless Search Partners is very excited for it’s newest search assignment. We have partnered with a growing healthcare company, who is private equity backed, and looking to build out their accounting department.

This is a remote position but the candidate must be in the United States and able to work without any type of sponsorship.

The Director of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounting department, including financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, financial analysis, and managerial experience. This role reports directly to the Controller and requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

2. Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

3. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

4. Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial targets and monitor performance against budgetary goals.

5. Oversee tax planning and compliance activities, including the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local tax laws.

6. Provide strategic financial guidance and support to senior management, including analysis of financial trends, forecasts, and projections to inform decision-making.

7. Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate reporting and compliance.

8. Stay current on accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, and proactively assess the impact on the company’s financial operations.

9. Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function, leveraging technology and best practices to optimize workflow and enhance productivity.

10. Mentor and develop accounting staff, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and career advancement.


– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.

– 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

– Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, financial reporting requirements, and accounting best practices.

– Healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

– Proven leadership ability, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
